Adam Ferguson

Junior Copywriter at Leo Burnett. Previous posts include internships at DOJO in San Francisco and Amalgamated NYC. In March 2010, I published my first novel, thirty-six hours of self-imposed exile. I like making pies, essential oil blends, and I wish it was acceptable to wear bathrobes in public.

I love words. And I love the challenge of bringing them together to inspire, to make a difference and to sell products. I have experience working in every medium, for clients ranging from telecom to retail and the Military to hotels. You can check out my work online at: www.alisonhammer.com

I can crank on headlines or a list of concepts, but there's something about writing a bio that just paralyzes the pen. I guess it's part of the irony in this business of being able to sell anything well except yourself. I guess this blurb will just have to do until I have time to agonize over a real bio. As a fictional pilot named McWatt once said, "Oh well, what the hell..."

Known for telling it like it is — usually in the form of words on anything that will hold them — I'm a New York native who's held creative posts at some of the most highly regarded agencies in the world, including TBWA\Chiat\Day, Hill|Holliday, Merkle and Leo Burnett/Arc. Having worked in just about every discipline for clients in a variety of categories, I dig in deep to develop a strategy, construct a comprehensive plan designed to drive results and execute smart creative. I suppose you might say I'm fully versed in helping clients find value in integrated campaigns. And, with a knack for simplifying the complex, I've been published in DM News for my approach to email loyalty touch strategies and have been invited to speak to numerous groups on this very subject. Over the past few years I've taken on management roles and have successfully directed teams of 10+ Writers, Art Directors, Production Designers and Developers. However, my desire to concept, write and produce amazing work keeps me very involved with my sleeves rolled all the way up. After thirteen professional years in New York City and four in Boulder, Colorado, I'm now living on the north shore of Chicago with my wife, two kids and our dog Cooper.

I'm a rare breed of creativity mixed with client savvy. I went from the world of marketing and account management to the creative side of advertising in TV and radio. From there, I went on to hone my skills in interactive. Think of me as a super trifecta or weirdo hybrid. I consider both a compliment. Feel free to check out my portfolio on my website. I also did stand up comedy for three years and we all know that a sense of humor is a must when you spend the majority of your time together in a cubical environment.

Technically, I'm a jr. copywriter. But I like to think of myself as a little more. An entertainer. A salesman. An inventor, patenting new ideas for brands. I'm also a bit of a traveler. I graduated from Miami Ad School-Madrid and am Spanish/English bilingual (my future is in the general market, but hey, it never hurts right?). And speaking of traveling I don't respect boundaries. I've worked on/offline with Lápiz-Leo Burnett, Chicago, and then for Arista, a big digital shop in Madrid. What I do respect is doing sharp work. Like stuff for Warner Bros International, Pampero Rum, IE Business Schools, Schweppes, Trina (Spanish soft drink), Signal Toothpaste, All State, GMC, Herbal Essences, Bush's Beans and H&R Block. So that's my brief tale. The history of my creative passport. Now I'm in Chicago waiting for another stamp so I can takeoff again.
