OKRP Teams With Shoe Surgeon to Craft Grilling Shoes for Ace Hardware

With the insight that Dads who grill do so in their favorite ratty shoes, the creative team at OKRP came up with an unusual Father’s Day promotion for Ace Hardware’s annual Grilling promotion – the creation of a one-of-a-kind shoe just for grilling.
“We thought that if grilling were a spot, it would have it’s own high performance shoe, so we sought out the Shoe Surgeon to help bring a shoe to life for dad’s who grill,” explained David Petti, Group Creative Director at OKRP.
With the help of the Shoe Surgeon (aka Dominic Ciaimbrone) Ace will be giving away custom made “grilling shoes” to three lucky grand prize winners. The shoes come complete with bluetooth technology that enables dad to start his BBQ playlist with a click of a button, pre-smashed backs that let dad slip into his shoes as he goes into and out of the house, heat-sensitive leather that changes color while grilling, and cushy turf insoles.

Wearing these, the Ace grilling shoe allows dads to make their one-of-a-kind mark, both as a grill master and an all-star dad.”
The #AceIsTheFathersDayPlace Sweepstakes begins on June 8th, when Ace Hardware is asking families to show off dad’s current grilling attire, including their scruffy, worn, and torn grilling shoes on social media. On Father’s Day, June 19, three lucky winners will be chosen at random to win the grand prize: state-of-the-art original grilling shoes made by The Shoe Surgeon; a grill from Weber, Traeger or Big Green Egg; and an Ace grilling swag bag. Ten second prize winners will win an Ace swag bag full of grilling accessories.
