Burnett Wins Creative Commerce Grand Prix at Cannes for Wingstop’s ‘ThighStop’

Leo Burnett Chicago and client Wingstop won the Grand Prix for Creative Commerce at the Cannes Lions festival of creativity last week.

In the face of global supply chain shortages of chicken wings, Leo Burnett and client Wingstop responded with a virtual rebrand, turning Wingstop into Thighstop featuring chicken thighs in place of wings. The initiative delivered over 6.5 billion media impressions the promotion as it reinvented the brand overnight.

The campaign also featured Wingstop’s most famous franchisee, rapper Rick Ross embrace the idea and star in a video promoting the new concept.
